Important people in the Puritan Colony
William Bradford- 2nd governor of the Plymouth colony, developed private land ownership.
Squanto- Native American who helped the natives and pilgrims get along, went to England and came several years later and found his family dead.
John Winthrop- Governor of Massachusetts Bay colony, formed the colonies government and shaped it legislative policy.
Samoset- Native American leader of the early colonists, was the first to sell land to a pilgrim
Massasoit- leader who aided the pilgrims
Thomas Hooker- Thomas was a puritan minister that led 100 settlers out of Massachusetts Bay to Connecticut. He did this because he thought that the government had too much power. He also wanted to start a colony in Connecticut.
Anne Hutchinson- American colonists who was banished from Boston for her religious views.
Roger Williams- Clergyman that started the Rhode Island Colony
