Postmodern Art
The postmodern art were movements that defined the truth of modernism or developed in its aftermath. Postmodernists embraced diversity and rejected the distinction between "high" and "low" art. Traits associated with the use of the postmodern in art include bricolage, use of words prominently as the central artistic element, collage, simplification, appropriation, a return to traditional themes and techniques as a rejection of modernism, depiction of consumer or popular culture and Performance art. Collage brings together incompatible source materials and allow obvious quotation and repetition of existing images. Bricolage is reconfiguration of various traditional objects (typically elements from previous stages in the artists medium).
