Edgar Alan Poe
Edgar was born in Boston Massachusetts on January 19, 1809. He was a credited writer and was famous for his poems and writing. His father left his family early on and his mother died when he was three. Poe was then adopted by a tobacco merchant John Allan and his wife Frances. In 1827 he published his first book Tamerlane and Other Poems and joined the army later that year. He was in the army from 1827 to 1830 when he was kicked out due to shirking his duties. After the army he began writing full time. From 1831-35 he lived with his aunt and cousin in Baltimore. He actually ended up marring his cousin in 1836. Poe got a job writing for a newspaper in Richmond, Virginia in 1835. he was fired in 1837 due to angry behavior. In 1840 he wrote the famous poem the raven which was a huge hit. Especially in the time of the romanticism era. Unfortunately in 1847 Virginia died and Poe was overcome by grief and soon insanity. Around that time he began to create some of his greatest works. Some people say that some of his best writing was when he was insane. His final days were a mystery though. One day he was found in his home in bad condition and was rushed to the Baltimore hospital.
